Maybe change it to a fountain pen so the ink makes more sense

Found the first trailer two years ago in some tg channel and really liked what i saw. I kinda forgot about it and was really surpirised to see a new trailer, yet even more, with a link for a demo.

First thing i noticed is that the movement is really fluid and fun. I also liked the combining of different gimmics into one ability. Like the kick being also a dash, or the heal being a slow-mo.

Gunplay is cool too, I'm really curious to see what other guns and pencil modes would be added. Shotgun is pretty basic, although i like the limitation of ammo, makes it feel more like a tool then just another way to deal damage. Pencil so far is just a proof of concept, but both modes are already pretty fun to use.

Visuals and general style are really good too. The aestetics of cardboard and scribbles reminds me of something like Fancy Pants Adventure. Also the occasional halucinations and general "creepiness" sometimes feels really unsettling and surpisingly fits together very well with a comedic tone of the game.

Oh and music is wonderfull too, but after looking up who is Joonas Turner i can see why. He worked on a bunch of games, but my eye caught the fact that he made SFX for Broforce, as i was really obsessed with that game back in 2018 or so. Also he even has his own game and the OST there goes so incredibly hard, it's not even heavy metal at this point it's a whole cast iron.
Anyways, i can say for sure that the rest of OST and SFX in Paperhead will be top tier.

As for issues, i can only say that it feels like sometimes the game aims the kick of bomb\barrel to the wrong enemy. Also i somehow kicked the first battery through a wall with a window, so i had to drag it all the way around back inside.

Generally it was even better than i expected and i'm looking up to this game, it has all potential to be a really solid movement shooter. Thumbs up.👍
(i swear i wanted to make just a short review, i don't know why i wrote so much, bruh)

Extremely good, from the over all combat to the small things like your pencil glowing in the dark. The only problem I had is that it doesn't run very well, I accept that my hardware isn't exactly great (i5 4th gen and 1060 6gb) but for the scale of the game I feel like it should run a little better.

cardboard DOOM...I love this so much!!!!

Gave it a Let's Play, my gameplay, feedback and experience within

Just watched it, thanks a lot man! Great feedback! Yeah you're right about wombo-comboing stuff, it just wasnt that obvious unfortunately that you can also slide and throw enemies and objects in the air. With that, you can combo shotgun shot for example. But anyway, great video!

Appreciate it, feels good to play as is even from what I only had done :)

This was a ton of fun.  Really dug the kicking mechanic, and once I figured out the pencil drawing bombs bit I loved that too.  I think using "ink" is an odd choice, as it's a pencil.  I guess it sounds cooler than Graphite though.

Impressive gameplay!! Love the game.

works fine on linux with wine, game is sick as hell

Glad you liked it!

I love the game, however you should add a check for if enemies are out of bounds, because I ended up getting softlocked on level 3 (i believe) because an enemy was clipped out of bounds.

😥where did that happen on level3?

The first encounter. If I clipped it I would put it here, but alas, I did not.
One of the enemies just slid off screen as I was dealing with them.

I tried the demo myself. There are a few issues I wanted to bring up:

-When backpedaling, kicking won't work but hitting the key still consumes stamina.
-I've gotten two gunmen to pick a fight with each other and they really struggle to hit each other at point-blank range. They kind of aim off to the side at each other's feet.
-During one instance where I drew and kicked a bomb at a group of zombies, the bomb veered off to the left as it tried to hit a gunman on an elevated platform.
-I got stuck in a small corner near where the heal pickup is. As soon as you grab it and turn left, look left again before heading down the path to the right and you'll see a tube with some zombie inside. I went behind that and got caught inside a corner between some boxes when I fell through the opening.

Those aside, I love the sound design. It's so dang crisp! I also really enjoy watching the sprites go full 3d as they helplessly flop around in the air when you slide into them. It's quite humorous. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this.

Thanks! Will check the issues!

Oops, to clarify, I was talking about the heal power-up, not a regular pickup.

Watched ABG's video just a moment ago. I'm very interested in this game, but will you either provide an alternative set of imagery to the sudden hallucinations or some option to turn them off? That instantaneous flashing of white is extremely unpleasant.

Will add an option for that for sure

I got hooked on story, the gameplay is very good. tooke me a while to get used to mouseaim, but when i got it, everything went downhill. this is a very good game, visuals are amazingly good and fitting, combat is PUNCHY and fast as fuk boi, story is very interesting.
